It’s always good to have a little extra money, whether that’s because you need a bit more to cover your usual outgoings, or you want to save up for a one off expense such as a holiday. Learning how to make money on the weekends is the perfect way to boost your budget by supplementing your income.
There are so many money making opportunities and good weekend jobs out there that there’s sure to be something to suit everyone!
As always, if you do start making extra money at the weekends, you’ll need to make sure to keep track of your income so you can keep on top of your tax returns. For some of these work from home roles you may need to register as self employed and declare your income.

1. Food delivery driving
A really common way to make extra money on the weekends is becoming a delivery driver. You can apply for delivery jobs at individual restaurants or takeaways, or choose to sign up as an UberEats or Deliveroo driver. With these programmes you can set your own availability – whether that’s just an hour or two, or a whole weekend.
You can get paid within 48 hours too! It’s easy to sign up, and you’ll just need to provide details of your vehicle insurance and driving licence. If you want to deliver via bicycle, you’ll need to provide photo ID.
2. Uber or Lyft driver
Similarly, you can earn money at the weekend by becoming a rideshare driver. With services such as Uber and Lyft, you can set your own hours and work when you like, putting those spare weekend hours to good money making use.
You’ll need a vehicle that meets the requirements – usually a 2006 or newer vehicle is good condition.
With Uber, you can choose your own working times to fit around your life and their app will provide you with easy directions as you drive.

You can choose to sell through your own website or Facebook page, or use a dedicated platform such as Etsy. The benefits of using something like Etsy are that you can reach an already massive audience of potential customers.
A similar option to selling crafts is to sell designs for Print on Demand services, such as Amazon Merch, Teespring, Printful and similar. This is where you create and upload designs for things such as T-shirts, mugs, tote bags and lots of other such products. If you’re simply looking for some quick cash rather than an ongoing job, having a declutter and selling your unwanted stuff is an easy option. You can choose to sell online using platforms such as Facebook market place, eBay, Gumtree and similar, or alternatively you can try in person sales at car boot sales or holding your own yard sale.
